Windows 2000 is a Unicode-based operating system with its own CJK fonts
and input method editors but sometimes you may prefer a third-party
CJK enabler, especially if you need
more input methods (e.g. Traditional Chinese Pinyin to Hanzi) or want
to read pre-Unicode encoded documents without changing your default
language setting. Users of Office XP may want to upgrade
to Office XP's new input method editors.
This is how you install the fonts supplied with Windows 2000:
Double-click My Computer, Control Panel and Regional
Settings. Check Chinese, Japanese and/or Korean under Language
Settings in the General tab and click OK.
You will find the following TTC and TTF files in your
WINDOWS\FONTS directory:
This is how you add the input method editors after you have installed
the fonts:
Double-click My Computer, Control Panel and Regional
Settings. Click Input Locales, click Add, associate each input
locale with a keyboard layout and click OK.
